    The European Space Agency's Rosetta mission will come to a close by month's end. Rosetta is the plucky little spacecraft that almost didn't get off the ground. It was supposed to launch in 2003, but a failure of the Ariane 5 rocket delayed the mission until 2004 and caused a change in the comet that was to be studied.  Once launched, Rosetta had to adopt a complicated trajectory, which included three flybys of Earth and one of Mars, to get to its target: Comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko (67P).
